19.10.2021 - It's been a long wait for Californians. In fact, 1995 was the last year we saw a California NFL team win the Super Bowl. That was the San Francisco 49ers when they trounced the San Diego Chargers 49-26.
A quarter of a century is a very long time to wait, however, so it would be nice if one of the state's three NFL teams could step up to the plate and provide us with something to celebrate. The LA Rams, LA Chargers, and the San Francisco 49ers will all do their best to become the 2021 Super Bowl champions.

The LA Rams
Sitting as one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl, it would seem that the LA Rams have the best chance of bringing glory to California. With most online sports betting sites, they are currently the fourth favorite. They have odds of +800 to win the competition, putting them behind the Tampa Bay buccaneers, Kansas City Chiefs, and the Buffalo Bills.
They made a welcome return to the playoffs in the 2020 season and will hope to build on that this time around. They’ve upgraded their quarterback and made quite a few other changes. Could this be enough to take them further than last year?
The LA Rams have the youngest head coachin the NFL. At 34 years of age, it is easy to see why some tip him to achieve great things. However, as it stands, he is not considered one of the top 7 coaches in the league. This is something we definitely think will change in coming seasons, especially if he wins the 2021 Super Bowl.
The San Francisco 49ers
Is there a more iconic NFL team than the San Francisco 49ers? We might be biased, but we’re struggling to find one. Ok, perhaps the Miami Dolphins and the Chicago Bears may have something to say about that! As for the 49ers chances this year, they’re currently considered a bit of a dark horse. The team is the 12th favorite at odds of +2800 as of writing. Those are good odds we feel, and some that are well worth considering.
What could be in the 49ers’ favor is a relatively soft schedule. This is down to a poor showing last season. However, the squad is looking fit and has sustained no injuries. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be their biggest obstacle, but they have a couple of key players out with injury. You can just imagine the scenes if they could return to glory after a barren 25 seasons!
The LA Chargers
With many online sports books, the LA Chargers actually stand a better chance than the 49ers. Why? Well, huge hopes have been placed on quarterback Justin Herbert. He has just come off the back of a sensational rookie season. In fact, he broke just about every rookie record imaginable. We have not seen before a rookie season such as his, and the Chargers really could have a future legend in their books.
His performance has been enough for the Chargers to bolster their attacking talent to take further advantage of this amazing young talent. The only question is how well the recent additions and the rest of the team gels from now on. Still, at +2000, this is an interesting bet to make. Some believe it might be a season too short, as there are other deficiencies in the roster that need ironing out. Though strengthened, the defense has been a bane of this team for some time. It will have to considerably improve if the Chargers really want to have a chance of success.
Can we dream?
Overall, while it is clear who the favorites are for the Super Bowl, we think there is plenty of scope to be hopeful. The only question is whether any of these three teams can live with some of the most exciting NFL teams, such as the Kansas City Chiefs or Buffalo Bills?
